Introduction

Just by way of introducing my new blog, I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Joe, I'm a guy, and I happen to like to cross stitch. Counted cross stitch, in particular. Long ago, when I was just a little boy, I found myself often rather bored and lonely, and I asked my mom if she would teach me how to do the cross stitch that she liked to do. It only took a couple of hours for her to teach me the basics of it, and I've been stitching off and on every since.

As a guy, I often find myself looking at patterns of cute little bunnies and babies and homespun wisdom, and I find myself wanting to puke. It's not that I really care all that much about those things one way or the other, but I'm certainly not going to stitch a Precious Moments sampler any time in the near future. I've mostly stuck with doing nature scenes, landscapes, and similar types of patterns. It just seems that almost everything cross-stitch related is oriented toward women, so I decided to start a bit of a website and blog which pertain to cross stitch from a male perspective.

Yes, I do realize that I'm in an incredibly small minority, but that's the way the cookies crumbles. I'm going to try to start designing patterns that appeal to me, and hopefully some of them will appeal to others. If they do, I might start selling them on Etsy or here on my own website. If not, I'll keep trying to make them for myself. That's it for now, though. More later.
